I founded 27pilots to help companies execute at scale on innovation and problem solving through a breakthrough corporate venturing tool: The Venture Client model.
It enables companies to benefit from existing solutions from top startups to be faster, and at substantially lower risk and cost than building solutions themselves.
I am responsible for the Venture team that delivers Venture Client services to our corporate partners. My team builds and operates Venture Client units at corporations. It coaches our corporate partners in the Venture Client methodology, creates the internal awareness for startup solutions and promotes the Venture Client unit in the global startup ecosystem. The Venture team is active from problem identification, through startup assessment until adoption of the startup solution through the corporate. I am frequently in the field to meet with outstanding startups and to spread the word about the benefits of the Venture Client model. I like to support students and entrepreneurs in various mentor programs.
Before 27pilots, I was founder and head of the BMW Startup Garage. Based on the needs at BMW I co-invented the Venture Client model to leverage startups as a source for competitive advantage for the BMW Group. Starting within the R&D department I grew the BMW Startup Garage to a BMW Group-wide corporate venturing vehicle.
Before I held several roles in innovation management and R&D strategy. I led the BMW innovation process and innovation controlling. I pioneered Open Innovation at BMW R&D doing several crowd-innovation campaigns. I have substantial experience in product development and led projects from idea to worldwide market launch of BMW and Rolls-Royce products.
I graduated with a Master’s and P.h.D, in Safety Engineering at the University of Wuppertal. My Ph.D. focused on predictive data analytics for product warranty cost. In addition, I was awarded an MBA in Innovation & Business Creation from the TU Munich and UC Berkeley.
I like cross-cycling at the river Isar and enjoy the beautiful mountains and lakes around Munich. Friends might say that I appreciate good food.
